Capt.Iwaichiro Idaka launches domestic shipping and warehousing services in Tianjin, China.
After sailing the seas of the world as a shipmaster, Capt. Iwaichiro Idaka embarks on domestic shipping and warehousing services.
1949
Capt.Idaka changes the name of his company to "Toko Kaiun Kaisha, Ltd." and relocates the head office to Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. "Toko Maru", its first own vessel, is completed.

Breaking into oceangoing shipping business
1959
Toko Line transports ores from New Caledonia and iron ore from Goa, India to Japan. Taking advantage of the services, it breaks into the oceangoing shipping business.
